Space Goats Draenei, I loves me some. Second-favorite race after Tauren.
They’re huge (well, the men are, especially… but their women are pretty tall, too), they have these awesome pseudo-Russian accents, and when they’re kicking ass, all that yelling and such is so over-the-top and yet so very, very badass. It’s, like, you can tell they really enjoy a good fight! (Who does the voiceovers for player-character male Draenei, anyway?)
I would have rolled Phil and Yoshi as Draenei when I first started out but seeing as at the time race selection in trial accounts were limited to vanilla!WoW, it just wasn’t to be. It, of course, does not preclude me from race-changing them NOW from being mere humans, but it would kind of break the pseudo-canon with those two being related to Kiros (as father and sister, respectively)… and I’ve come to like the goofiness of male humans in the case of Phil, too. :P
I could, of course, roll a Draenei alt, perhaps a warrior as seen above. I don’t have a tank yet; Leslie, while a Paladin, is DPS/Heals. Also, it’d give me a means of representing Blastoise (my primary/gaming machine on the house LAN) in WoW, just as I represent Dinah (the ninja laptop) via my Night Elf Rogue Dinalesca. Blastoise, who would no doubt need a name corruption to blend in with the others, would be nothing short of badass, and in DPS mode he would totally be packing a spear (his signature weapon, after all). But I’ve quite a few lowbie alts running around— Dinah, Mauriska and Auriska on Draenor, and Koyoshial on Khadgar— with plans to roll up a Tauren Paladin (who will likely represent Avatar Yggdrasil so he will surely be VERY OLD) in Cataclysm, so maybe it’s best not to add to the chaos right now.
I currently get my Draenei fix via Boss and my brother; the former with his tankadin Buffsrus and the latter with his very FuSoYa-esque Resto Shammy Akaycia. Oh, and on those rare instances he wanders over to Draenor, Pigeon’s shammy Dalmont… who for reasons I can’t quite place, I always imagine as being this total bookworm with thick geek glasses. Perhaps eventually I’ll have my own space goat stabbing things up with ‘em.
