I’ve pretty much made it personal policy that I will only PuG raids that are guild-dominated. At the very least, it is because they are highly unlikely to ragequit after wiping on the first boss or so.
But sometimes I forget… or rather, when weighing policy against “ooh, if I get at least two boss kills, I can get a new tier piece” the greed takes over. Boo this Yoshi. Slow and steady really does win the race, people.
I used Leslie’s shiny new golden ticket (aka the Frostwing achievement) to get her into a 25-man ICC… and not only did it take 2 hours to set up, it quickly exploded during clearing trash. Didn’t even make it to Marrowgar. I was going to bring out Phil but then remembered that another group decided (with my consent, of course) that he would be on their permanent invite list for their Saturday alt runs henceforth. That left Yoshi and Rei.
Yoshi had the second-best ticket that I would have preferred to save until later in the week, when all the higher-end raid groups pop up, so Rei gets thrown in. Mmm, guild-dominated runs. Even if they still crash and burn at Putricide (or, alternatively, Dreamwalker), it doesn’t leave the same bitter “well, there’s three hours of my life I’m not getting back” aftertaste as others often leave. No usable loot of note as what Rei had was either t10 hunter stuff or otherwise superior (probably looted from 25-mans) but she still got a nice little pile of Frost cookies.
Now, if only I could, you know, do an actual, honest-to-smoo guild run… with MY guild! :P Guess I’m stuck waiting until Cata, there…
